Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TIFF)

The Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TIFF) focuses on independent cinema and emerging filmmakers from around the world and is held every November in Thessaloniki. TIFF features international competition sections, and its program includes tributes to major filmmakers and national cinemas, as well as sidebar events such as masterclasses, exhibitions, live concerts, and workshops. In addition to TIFF, in March the annual Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (TDF) is held.

  • Hooligan Express, an audio documentary by iMEdD, based into a long-term investigation into violence in sports, premiered at the Green Room during the 26th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (March 14, 2024). The hearing was followed by a discussion with creators.
  • The iMEdD Talk titled “The intersection of journalistic investigation and documentary filmmaking” took place on March 2023, at MOMus Museum of Photography, within the framework of the Agora of the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.
  • The co-operation with the Thessaloniki Film Festival was launched in North Evia, on the occasion of the Festival’s new initiative, Evia Film Project, where iMEdD held two masterclasses on environmental journalism. 
  • In the framework of the iMEdD International Journalism Forum 2022, Geli Mademli, Program Assistant at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, curated the screening of the documentary: The Killing of a Journalist. 
  • Also, iMEdD in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Film Festival created a new podcast development program. The final podcast was presented during the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (March 2023).
