iMEdD at the 2nd IQ Media Conference: Presenting YOJO and Exploring the Future of Media in the Age of AI

iMEdD is participating in the international conference “The Future of Digital Journalism: Artificial Intelligence, Innovation, and Integrity,” taking place on April 14–15, 2025, in Athens, bringing to the forefront two critical issues shaping the future of journalism: the power of youth and the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the media landscape.

YOJO: A new newsroom for a new generation of journalists

On April 14, from 15:00 to 15:30, Angelos Petropoulos, Content Director at iMEdD and Executive Editor of YOJO, will present YOJO—the organization’s new nonprofit digital newsroom created by and for young journalists.

In his talk, titled “Why create a newsroom by and for young journalists?” he will introduce an initiative that amplifies the voices of the next generation, fostering resilience and innovation in journalistic practice. YOJO is part of iMEdD’s ongoing efforts to support emerging journalists, providing them with the tools, space, and freedom to experiment, express themselves, and collaborate.

AI and Media: The future of business models

The following day, on April 15 from 10:00 to 11:00, Thanasis Troboukis, Director of Innovation at YOJO, will moderate a highly topical panel discussion titled “How is artificial intelligence transforming the business models of news media?”

Bringing together leading experts, the discussion will explore the challenges and opportunities AI presents to the media industry’s business strategies—highlighting new paths to sustainability while addressing critical questions around transparency, accuracy, and the ethical use of emerging technologies in journalism.

The conference will take place at the “Argyriadis” Amphitheater in the Main Building of the University of Athens (30 Panepistimiou Street). Admission is free with prior registration via: https://iqmediahub.com/conference

*The conference is organized by the New Technologies Laboratory of the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), within the framework of the European project IQ Media. The project serves as a hub for the digital transformation of news organizations across Europe, aiming to equip journalists with skills in Artificial Intelligence, Data Journalism, and the use of innovative digital tools.
