The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper Added to Media & Democracy Summit Lineup

Summit arrives in Wilmington one week from today

Jordan Klepper, comedian and co-host of The Daily Show, is slated to attend the inaugural Media & Democracy Summit in Wilmington, Delaware on May 29–31, 2024. The event is set to convene a diverse group of journalists, academics, and students worldwide in person and virtually. 

The agenda includes more than 30 speakers representing local, national, and international media professionals and journalists, scholars who study media and pursue engagement, and civic leaders who advance democratic engagement in communities. 

A selection of confirmed speakers includes:

  • Jordan Klepper, comedian and co-host of The Daily Show
  • Jessica Yellin, founder of News Not Noise
  • John Avlon, CNN senior political analyst and anchor 
  • Margaret Hoover, PBS political commentator and host of “Firing Line” 
  • Douglas Brinkley, professor, presidential historian, and New York Times bestselling author 
  • Athan Stephanopoulos, Former Executive Vice President & Chief Digital Officer, CNN Worldwide

Summit attendees can engage in keynote presentations, one-on-one interviews, and panel discussions throughout the two-day event. Session topics will cover technological disruptions and AI, community partnerships to identify and address public issues, freedom of the press, media ownership and diversity, and global perspectives on media, including places impacted by war.

The Summit kicks off on May 29 with the SNF Dialogues open discussion “Consumers or Citizens,” which explores the repercussions of the commercialization of politics and the evolving role of citizens within this framework. This is part of SNF’s broader series of open discussions on Civic Engagement and Civil Discourse in the US. Registration for attending the SNF Dialogues discussion follows a separate procedure. The summit is jointly organized by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Ithaca Initiative in the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware and the incubator for Media Education & Development (iMEdD).
